The enclosures formed by boundaries between us, in a macroscopic view, can be called as institutions. We are raised by “schools” of thoughts, we adjust, re-adjust, re-arrange our wheels of understanding and shift between various institutions. There are few among them who tell us to keep our eyes widespread, and tell us we don’t belong anywhere, but just for our convenience, they would tell us this the is what it is, and that is how it is.
When we are kids, it’s the schools, colleges a bit later, and companies, then societies, we subscribe and then unsubscribe. Experiencing few of them depending on our situations, we know that most of these institutions don’t really care about us, they are there, so that they can be there.
The other day, i read few pages of a book, i think the authors have done well, in that they have managed to bring back the conservatism into foreground and because of the topic that they have chosen, most of the phd’s and wandering thinkers like me would buy it. Obnoxious conformists, i’ve met my share of them, but these people just exaggerate the qualities most of us are composed of these days. Rationalism has been mistaken, but because of the institutionalization, all we seem to be doing is defending something we’ve confirmed before even the revolution has started.
The difference among institutions is vast, they may seem to be similar at a first glance, but its as if speaking different languages really means we process differently (contradictory to what most think, atleast i thought). After traveling a bit, i find America as the most inclusive (every sense of the word) institution that exists in this world, i am over-generalizing and extrapolating, but i m sure, not many would disagree with me here. Unless one deals with the topics of biases, opinions and our preferences, people will never come close to shattering these walls: An Indian will almost remain the same, even if he learns good english, works in MS, has even read few books on human congnition, cause that’s what it is and he wont deal with things that fall outside his fence of convenience.
Where are the hyperlinks to support the text? Look at the amount spent on research vs amount of money spent on entertainment in the form of sex, violence on one hand, and getting degrees from reputed “institutions on the other.
Lot of Research candidates end up teaching entry level math to children, If that is any pointer to what happens thus.
Doing what one believes in in spite of agreeing with right or the non-conformists is a fashion today. Ofcourse, everyones ought to do what is to be done, but, that pretense can deter a potential non-conformist form this path (well u may say that desire was less), worst case scenario, the meaning of building a different institution can take a distorted view in the questioner’s mind. I think these institutions are obstacles to “freedom”, they encapsulate thoughts, try to go outlive what their time, stifle the flow of a stream can reach its destination.
In particular, if we want to know what is going to happen, we would usually want to know the best ways a particular situation(s) can be reached. Lot of these institutions will give help us not re-invent the wheel, lot of them tell us that this event cannot happen at all, not really good. Remember the famous double slit experiment? Cancellation, isnt it what is happening, just a perspective i would say. Are we merely a state between the methods of government-like institutions and our own “self-control”? I have to lookup how positivists come about these things, nihilism seems to be the answer to everything, but what about? Just a postmortem- We have to learn to speak the truth, because it isnt a lie!!
